Twenty-two arts groups that perform and teach in Richardson will share $375,000 in city grants this fiscal year after the City Council approved the awards at its Monday meeting, the city reported Friday.

The money comes from the city's Hotel/Motel Tax Fund, which collects the tax paid on overnight stays. The grants go toward the groups' operating expenses and their regular programming for fiscal 2026-27, which began Oct. 1.

According to the city, applicants were weighed on three things: how much the organization focuses on Richardson, its impact on the community, and how well its work advances the city's Cultural Arts Master Plan. The city's announcement did not list how much each group received.

The recipients

Theater: Accolade Community Theatre, Classics Theatre Project, Core Theatre, Repertory Company Theatre and Richardson Theatre Centre.

Choral groups: Contemporary Chorale, Richardson Community Chorale and Rich-Tone Chorus.

Bands and orchestras: Chamber Music International, Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra, Premier Lone Star Wind Orchestra, Richardson Community Band, Richardson Symphony Orchestra, Texas Winds Musical Outreach, Texins Jazz Band and Town North Concert Band.

Dance: Chamberlain Ballet and Tuzer Ballet.

Other organizations: Dallas Chinese Community Center, OutLoud Dallas, Richardson Civic Art Society and Richardson Reads One Book.

The full list and the city's announcement are posted on Richardson Today, the city's news site.
