Drivers who park along North Interurban Street or Wheeler Street downtown will need to find another spot starting Wednesday morning, as the city prepares for its annual Culture in The CORE Food and Music Festival.
The free festival is scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Interurban Common, 110 N. Interurban St., next to the Belt & Main development across from U.S. 75. The city describes it as a family-friendly fall event built around the music, dance, food and art of Richardson's many cultural communities.
Parking and street closures
According to the city's notice, parking will be prohibited from 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, until 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, on:
- North Interurban Street between East Main Street and Greer Street
- Wheeler Street between North Sherman Street and North Interurban Street
Cars left in the posted no-parking zones can be towed beginning Thursday, Nov. 5. Those same two blocks close to traffic entirely at 8 p.m. Thursday and stay closed until 10 p.m. on festival day.
A parking map posted by the CORE District shows public parking near Sherman and Wheeler streets and south of East Main Street, along with accessible parking, a rideshare area and nearby DART access. Organizers suggest saving the event and parking maps to a phone before heading out.
