Dallas converted seven of 11 third downs, avoided turnovers and finished four drives with touchdowns. Brandon Aubrey added three field goals, including a 60-yarder. Rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham forced a fumble, and Dee Winters recovered it inside the Washington 20. Dak Prescott completed 26 passes, totaling 279 yards and four touchdowns, with no interceptions. Two scoring throws went to Jake Ferguson, while CeeDee Lamb caught eight passes for 153 yards and scored twice. Lamb’s 24-yard touchdown catch was Prescott’s fourth of the game and the 249th of his career, breaking Tony Romo’s Cowboys record, according to The Associated Press. Prescott said the ensuing celebration made him emotional.
Ferguson’s touchdowns covered 10 and 12 yards. The first put Dallas ahead 17-10 at halftime, and the second followed Barham’s takeaway to make it 27-13. Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow on the final play of the first half from the Dallas 1-yard line. Coach Dan Quinn said imaging showed no fracture. Marcus Mariota then threw for 111 yards and one touchdown while completing 11 passes on 16 attempts. Dallas will play Baltimore on Sunday, Sept. 27, at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, with the Cowboys designated as the home team, at 3:25 p.m. Central.
