The two major-party nominees for the redrawn U.S. House District 32 seat, one of them a Richardson City Council member until last week, are scheduled to face questions together at the Richardson Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Oct. 14.

The chamber and the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce are hosting the forum with Democrat Dan Barrios and Republican Jace Yarbrough. Check-in and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m., and the forum runs from noon to 1 p.m. at the chamber office, 411 Belle Grove Drive.

Admission is free, but the chamber asks people to register in advance because lunch is provided; walk-ins will be seated as space allows without a guaranteed meal. The forum will also be streamed live on the chamber's Facebook page.

According to the event listing, the candidates will be asked about business and public policy issues facing the region and state, with audience questions if time allows.

The candidates

Barrios was elected to the Richardson City Council in 2023. He announced in July that he would step down to seek another office, and the council's Sept. 28 meeting was his last; the council appointed Daniel Burdette to finish the Place 3 term. Barrios won the March 3 Democratic primary over Anthony Bridges, a combat veteran and first responder, according to FOX 4's primary-night report.

Yarbrough, an attorney and veteran, led a crowded Republican primary field that night with about half the vote and is now the Republican nominee. FOX 4 reported that President Donald Trump endorsed him.

No incumbent is on the ballot for the seat. Texas redrew the district in a mid-decade redistricting in August 2025, and FOX 4 reported that the new lines turned a solidly Democratic Dallas district into a Republican-leaning one. The chamber's listing describes the district as covering northern Dallas County and southern Collin County along with parts of East Texas.

Voting dates

Monday, Oct. 5, is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 3 election. Early voting runs Oct. 19 through Oct. 30.
