Families who have lost a pregnancy or a baby are invited to a free remembrance ceremony Sunday afternoon in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave. in Dallas.

The Dallas Wave of Light Remembrance Ceremony runs from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11. It is organized by Missing Pieces Support Group with Restland and is listed on the Richardson Chamber of Commerce's community events calendar.

Organizers say the gathering is tied to the International Wave of Light observance and is meant to honor babies lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy, neonatal death and infant loss. The program, according to the event page, includes a remembrance service, time for reflection and music, and a chance for families to meet one another and learn about local support resources.

The ceremony is open to parents whose loss was recent or many years ago, as well as relatives, friends and health care workers who want to stand with them. Admission is free, but organizers ask people to register in advance so they can plan for the crowd and send updates.

Registration is on the group's event page at secure.qgiv.com, and the chamber listing names Anh Nguyen, the group's Dallas-Fort Worth chapter director, as the contact.

Missing Pieces Support Group has chapters in the Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth areas. Its website says it offers loss support for women and men, including during a later pregnancy, as well as care packages of comfort items for women after a miscarriage or stillbirth, and a list of resources such as personal accounts, podcasts and local support options.
