Oettinger stops 26 in Buffalo

The Dallas Stars shut out the Buffalo Sabres 4-0 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York, on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Jake Oettinger made 26 saves for the shutout, while the Stars scored four times on 18 shots against Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.

How the goals came

Jason Robertson put Dallas ahead in the first period with his second goal of the season, a snap shot assisted by Mikko Rantanen and Wyatt Johnston.

The Stars broke the game open in the second period. Sam Steel scored his first goal of the season on a snap shot, assisted by Thomas Harley and Rantanen, to make it 2-0. Rantanen made it 3-0 with a backhand, assisted by Nils Lundkvist and Johnston, and Roope Hintz added a snap shot from Johnston and Rantanen for the 4-0 final.

Leaders

Rantanen had a goal and three assists, a point on each Dallas goal. Johnston finished with three assists. Dallas went 1-for-2 on the power play, and Buffalo went 0-for-3.

Both teams left the game at 2-2-0 with four points. The crowd at KeyBank Center was 19,070.
