The new series "Dutton Ranch," a sequel to "Yellowstone," was filmed entirely in North Texas, showcasing the region's landscapes. The production took place from August 2025 to March 2026, with locations including Ferris, Boyd, and Fort Worth, among others. Ferris, located about 29 miles south of Richardson, played a significant role in the filming, which depicted the fictional town of Rio Paloma.
The series premiered on May 15, 2026, and quickly became Paramount+’s biggest original series launch, attracting 12.9 million viewers in its first week. The premiere also marked a record for the Paramount Network, drawing 2.9 million viewers.
The production benefited from Texas's Moving Image Industry Incentive Program, which provides cash grants to qualifying film and television projects based on their spending in the state. This initiative supports local economies by channeling funds to crews, vendors, and businesses in the vicinity of filming locations.
"Dutton Ranch" features a cast including Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Ed Harris, and has already been renewed for a second season, although a premiere date has yet to be announced.
