UT Dallas pain researcher Theodore Price received the Technology Inventor Award at this year's Tech Titans ceremony for work aimed at finding nonaddictive pain medicines, the university reported Oct. 2.
The award was presented Aug. 28. Price leads UT Dallas' Center for Advanced Pain Studies and is a neuroscience professor at the Richardson university.
His research has also led to startup companies. UT Dallas said Eli Lilly and Co. acquired 4E Therapeutics earlier this year. Price spun the company out of the university to develop compounds called MNK inhibitors for chronic pain.
Price credited colleagues at the research center and its spinout companies for the recognition. He also praised Tech Titans' support for science and technology education in North Texas public schools.
