UT Dallas endowment tops $1 billion, supporting students and faculty

UT Dallas announced Sept. 30 that its endowment had passed $1 billion for the first time, a milestone for the funds that help sustain student aid, faculty support and academic programs at the Richardson university.

UTIMCO, the investment manager for the University of Texas and Texas A&M systems, lists UT Dallas at $1,061,389,699.66 as of Aug. 31, 2026. Among UT System academic campuses, only UT Austin had a larger endowment. Including health institutions, UT Dallas ranked fourth.

The campus benefit comes through annual distributions. UT Dallas says its endowed scholarships, fellowships and other student-support funds provide more than $8.5 million a year. Endowed resources also support 161 faculty positions.

Those funds serve the purposes specified by their donors. Part of an endowment is distributed each year, while the rest remains invested to support future students and university work.

The announcement arrives during the final stretch of the university’s New Dimensions fundraising campaign, which has brought in $619 million toward a $750 million target. UT Dallas says donors have created 447 endowed funds during the campaign and that investment performance and giving have helped the endowment grow about 120% since the campaign began.
