Texas Instruments and Infineon Technologies have moved to Platinum membership in the Zephyr Project, increasing their support for its open-source software work.

Zephyr develops a real-time operating system for embedded devices. In its October 1 announcement, the project said the commitments would provide resources for software development, infrastructure and community programs.

TI has contributed software and hardware support since Zephyr began in 2016, according to the announcement. Infineon supports the software on multiple embedded platforms.

The project’s community is gathering in Prague for an October 6 maintainers forum and the October 7–9 Zephyr Developer Summit.

TI operates two semiconductor wafer fabrication plants in Richardson. Both are in production, according to the company’s Richardson facility page.
