Late Surge Turns Tide
The Houston Astros overcame a four-run deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 6-4 on Tuesday at Angel Stadium. The victory, secured by a dramatic four-run rally in the ninth inning, improved the Astros' record to 53-55, while the Angels fell to 42-65.
Los Angeles established an early lead, taking a 4-0 advantage by the end of the third inning. The Angels struck first in the top of the first, with Neto scoring on a sacrifice fly by Schanuel and Trout crossing the plate on a single by Grissom.
Grissom extended the lead in the third with a home run to left center, followed by Lowe scoring on a double by Adell.
Houston began chipping away at the deficit in the fourth inning when Trammell hit a home run to center field, making the score 4-1. The Astros added another run in the eighth when Alvarez singled to left, allowing Peña to score.
Ninth-Inning Breakthrough
The game remained close until the bottom of the ninth, when the Astros loaded the bases and capitalized on defensive miscues and a controversial call. Spence grounded into a fielder's choice, but Trammell scored on an error by second baseman Grissom. Allen also reached base safely on the play.
Paredes was hit by pitch, and after a challenge by the Angels was upheld, Spence scored to tie the game at 4-4. Wade Jr. then drew a walk, and despite another Angels challenge being upheld, Peña scored to give Houston a 5-4 lead. The final run came when Alvarez scored as Altuve reached first on an error by pitcher Sam Bachman, sealing the 6-4 victory.
