Angels Deliver Decisive Blow

The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Houston Astros 18-3 on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Daikin Park. The visitors dominated the contest from the outset, outscoring the hosts 15-2 after the first two innings and extending their lead significantly in the fourth. The final score reflected a comprehensive victory for the Angels, who improved their record to 51-77, while the Astros fell to 64-64.

Attendance at the venue was 20,934.

Neto Drives Offensive Engine

Neto was the central figure in the Angels' attack, recording five hits and driving in seven runs. He opened the scoring with a single to right in the first inning, allowing Meckler to score. The Angels continued to score throughout the early frames, with Grissom, Heineman, and Frazier contributing runs in the second and fourth innings.

Neto’s power was evident in the fifth inning when he homered to center, a shot that traveled 428 feet, driving in Frazier and Schanuel. He added two more RBIs in the seventh with a double to center that scored Trout and Siri. Ballesteros also contributed significantly, scoring in the second and fourth innings.

Astros Attempt Comeback

The Astros managed to score three runs but could not keep pace. Wade Jr. scored in the first inning on a fielder's choice, assisted by an error by third baseman Grissom. The team added another run in the first on a wild pitch by Rodriguez.

In the ninth inning, Guzman homered to left, a 363-foot drive that scored Peraza. Smith followed with a sacrifice fly to center that brought in Varsho. These were the only runs Houston managed in the game.

The Angels' pitching staff limited the damage, with Grayson Rodriguez earning the win.

Pitching Performance

Grayson Rodriguez secured the victory for the Angels, pitching seven innings. He allowed five hits, walked two batters, and struck out six while holding the opposing team scoreless. Blake Weiman closed the game with two innings of work, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out three.

For Houston, Peter Lambert took the loss after pitching 3.2 innings. He allowed eight hits and nine earned runs, walking two and striking out three. Bryan King followed with 1.1 innings, allowing five hits and five earned runs.

Tatsuya Imai pitched three innings, allowing two hits and two earned runs, while LaMonte Wade Jr. pitched one inning, allowing three hits and two earned runs.
