Houston Beats Kansas State 35-16 as Overmyer Catches Four TDs

Houston takes control

Houston Cougars defeated the Kansas State Wildcats 35-16 on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas, as Patrick Overmyer caught four touchdown passes from Conner Weigman. The visiting Cougars scored in each of the first three quarters and held Kansas State to three points through the first half.

Overmyer opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown reception from Weigman in the first quarter, followed by Jonathan Dimas’ kick. Kansas State answered with Luis Rodriguez’s 29-yard field goal, leaving Houston ahead 7-3 after one quarter.

Cougars build a halftime lead

Houston added two touchdowns in the second quarter. Overmyer caught a 2-yard scoring pass from Weigman, and Makhi Hughes followed with a 13-yard touchdown run. Dimas made both extra points, sending the Cougars into halftime with a 21-3 lead.

Weigman finished 19 of 30 passing for 242 yards and four touchdowns. Overmyer had eight receptions for 83 yards and four touchdowns. Re'Shaun Sanford II led Houston’s rushing attack with 20 carries for 90 yards.

Kansas State responds, but Houston stays ahead

Overmyer added his third touchdown reception on an 8-yard pass from Weigman in the third quarter, with Dimas’ kick making the score 28-3. Kansas State then cut into the deficit when Garrett Oakley caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Avery Johnson. The two-point pass conversion failed, leaving the score 28-9.

Houston restored its 26-point advantage before the quarter ended when Overmyer caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Weigman, followed by another Dimas kick. Kansas State scored the only points of the fourth quarter on Jaron Tibbs’ 6-yard touchdown reception from Johnson and Rodriguez’s extra point.

Leaders and records

Johnson completed 16 of 30 passes for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for Kansas State. Rodney Fields Jr. carried 14 times for 46 yards, while Oakley had three receptions for 49 yards and one touchdown.

The game drew an attendance of 51,569. Kansas State is 3-2 after the game, and Houston is 5-1.
