Cookie Society, a North Texas bakery specializing in gourmet cookies and rotating desserts, is expanding its footprint to Richardson. The family-owned business intends to open its sixth storefront at 232 W. Campbell Road, a space previously occupied by a Which Wich Superior Sandwiches. The company has targeted a later date in 2026 for the launch, though a specific opening day has not yet been announced.

Co-founder Jeff Allen confirmed the plans in an email, stating that the new shop will serve the local community, surrounding neighborhoods, and the University of Texas at Dallas population. The location is situated in a strip center along a corridor near the university, positioning it to capture both student traffic and residential customers.

Allen described the upcoming menu as the full Cookie Society experience, featuring freshly baked classics, monthly rotating flavors, brownies, and oatmeal cream pies.

The bakery currently operates five other locations in Frisco, Addison, Southlake, Mansfield, and Prosper. The business traces its origins to 2017, when co-founder Marissa Allen began developing recipes after a trip to New York City. Her husband, Jeff Allen, a former NFL offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans, served as an early tester.

The couple launched online sales in 2018 and opened their first physical store in Frisco in April 2020 during the peak of pandemic restrictions.

The brand gained national attention in November 2020 when Oprah Winfrey included its Holiday Dozen Gift Crate on her annual Favorite Things list, an event that reportedly sold out inventory within days. Since then, the company has described itself as the largest Black-owned cookie business in Texas.

Marissa Allen has also expanded the brand through a cookbook titled Homegrown Baked From Scratch and a mobile dessert food truck. The bakery’s catalog now includes more than 70 dessert recipes.

This expansion occurs within a growing national market for gourmet cookies, which was valued at $12.07 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $18.63 billion by 2030. Local competition remains active, with Insomnia Cookies opening an Addison location in January and Mary's Mountain Cookies closing its Frisco shop in December.
