Richardson police officers arrested a suspect following an overnight standoff that began late Tuesday night. The incident started around 11 p.m. when officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by a man wanted in a narcotics investigation. According to the Richardson Police Department, the driver refused to stop, leading to a brief pursuit before he abandoned the vehicle.

The suspect fled on foot into the backyard of a residence in the 100 block of West Shore Place. He barricaded himself inside a shed located behind the home. SWAT team members moved in and took the man into custody at approximately 1 a.m.

Police stated that narcotics were discovered on the suspect and inside his vehicle. He now faces charges for evading arrest as well as the manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance. The department has not yet released the suspect's name or a mugshot.

Local resident Sandy Romo shared video footage of the scene, showing numerous police vehicles entering the quiet, dead-end street. In a social media post, Romo described the activity, noting that rifles and flashlights were deployed and that a nearby creek was being searched. She expressed hope for the safety of the officers involved in the operation.

The information regarding the arrest and the suspect's charges comes from the Richardson Police Department. Additional details about the specific quantities of drugs found or the suspect's prior history were not provided in the initial reports.
