Richardson Independent School District announced that it is aware of a political campaign flier distributed by a local candidate that features a photograph of Superintendent Tabitha Branum. The district stated that the inclusion of the photograph does not reflect an endorsement of the candidate or their campaign by RISD or Superintendent Branum.

According to the district, the photograph was used without the knowledge, authorization, or consent of Superintendent Branum or Richardson ISD. The district has requested that the campaign immediately cease the use of the superintendent’s image in campaign publications.

RISD emphasized that, as a public school district governed by Texas law, it remains strictly neutral and nonpartisan in all political campaigns and elections. Consistent with the Texas Election Code and district policy, district employees and official representatives acting in their professional capacity do not endorse, support, or oppose any political candidates or parties.

District employees are expected to ensure that district resources, communications, and activities are not used to promote or oppose any candidate or political campaign.

The district stated that it remains committed to its role as a nonpartisan public institution and to ensuring that its leadership, resources, and reputation are not represented as supporting any political campaign. RISD noted that its priority remains centered on serving the students, families, and staff of the district and fulfilling its educational commitment to the community.
