Richardson ISD has announced that the Math Science Technology Magnet (MST) has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for the 2026-2029 period. This marks the second time the school has received the designation, having previously held the status from 2022 to 2025. The recognition highlights the school’s use of Apple technology to support STEM integration and purposeful technology experiences in teaching and learning.

Apple Distinguished Schools are described as centers of innovation and educational excellence that use technology to inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. The selection process considers documented results of academic accomplishment and the creation of an engaging learning environment.

MST Magnet Principal Dr. Lauren Bolack stated that technology serves as a tool to empower students to create, collaborate, and problem-solve. She noted that earning the second recognition celebrates the teachers’ commitment to meaningful learning experiences and the students’ ability to dream, design, and do.

The school is an A-rated K-6 elementary institution open to all families within the district. Each student uses an assigned iPad to access applications blended throughout the curriculum. Teachers are trained to integrate technology thoughtfully into the learning experience.

MST is home to four Apple Distinguished Educators, a program recognizing pioneers in using Apple technology to transform teaching. Additionally, five Apple Learning Coaches work within the staff to guide teachers on integrating devices into daily lessons and to support personalized, student-centered instruction.

Students are encouraged to select tools such as iMovie, Clips, Pages, Keynote, GarageBand, Numbers, and AR Makr to apply their learning. They often collaborate in hallways, recording booths, and the garden. The school emphasizes responsible technology use, with teachers balancing digital learning with traditional methods while teaching the Texas curriculum through hands-on activities.
