A Texas Christian University football player was hospitalized for three days after suffering a brain bleed from an alleged altercation with a teammate. The incident reportedly took place on August 13 in the locker room, where former safety Jacob Fields is accused of striking wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma in the forehead and kicking him in the head.

Ezukanma sustained a brain bleed, a concussion, and a strained AC joint as a result of the incident.

Fields has been removed from the team and turned himself in to law enforcement on Sunday. An arrest affidavit indicates that Ezukanma believed the attack was motivated by competition during practice, as Fields felt he was underperforming.

Following the incident, Ezukanma received text messages from Fields expressing remorse, in which Fields mentioned he made an emotional decision based on his feelings about recent practices and offered to pay for Ezukanma's hospital expenses.

Ezukanma's family reported he is recovering and looks forward to returning to the field once he receives medical clearance. His sister, Emelie Ezukanma, highlighted the need for accountability in this situation. Meanwhile, TCU is managing the incident while focusing on the team's performance, having recently lost their first game of the season.

TCU head coach Sonny Dykes expressed pride in how the players have dealt with distractions.

A representative for Fields stated he has legal representation and will allow the legal process to proceed, indicating that there will be a time to present the facts and truth regarding the incident. The investigation is ongoing as TCU continues its season.
