Richardson, Texas, is located approximately 15 miles from the Dallas Cowboys' headquarters.
The Dallas Cowboys have placed Laken Tomlinson on their practice squad to address offensive line depth after starting guard Tyler Smith suffered a thumb injury that will sideline him for at least one month. To fill the gap on the active roster, the team promoted Nick Leverett from the practice squad.
Leverett, an undrafted free agent from Rice University who joined Dallas last season while offensive coordinator Clayton Adams was with the Arizona Cardinals, will back up new starter TJ Bass. Leverett previously played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots, and Arizona Cardinals.
Tomlinson, 34, brings extensive experience to the squad. A first-round pick in 2015, he has started 162 career games and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2020. He most recently started seven games for the Houston Texans last year.
In related news, ESPN’s annual survey of NFL executives and scouts identified head coach Brian Schottenheimer as a contender for Coach of the Year. The poll suggests experts view Dallas as a strong NFC East contender following their 7-10 record. An NFC scout noted that quarterback Dak Prescott has potential for a big year if he stays healthy.
