Baylor has offered Bear Acy, a five-star basketball prospect ranked No. 7 nationally in the 2029 class, according to SI.com. Acy has not announced a decision, and the report says more scholarship opportunities are likely for the highly ranked player.
Acy is listed at 6 feet, 7 inches and is described as having the size to affect play on both sides of the court. His potential contributions include rim protection, passing-lane disruption, blocked shots and deflections.
His father, Quincy Acy, played forward for Baylor from 2008 through 2012. During his final season, Quincy Acy earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Defensive Team. He was also known for scoring near the basket, rebounding and blocking shots.
Baylor coach Scott Drew led the program throughout Quincy Acy’s four seasons. Drew became Baylor’s head coach in 2003 after serving as an assistant at Valparaiso under his father, Hall of Fame coach Homer Drew. A commitment by Bear Acy could give Scott Drew a chance to coach a second generation of the family, though it is unclear whether that connection will affect the decision.
