Houston Texans receiver Nico Collins has a reasonably possible path back for the team’s Week 4 meeting with the Dallas Cowboys, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported. Collins is ruled out against Houston’s Week 3 opponent because of a hamstring injury.
He has appeared in one game this season, the Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills, catching seven passes for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Dallas also has unresolved secondary issues. Some combination of cornerback Cobie Durant and safeties Malik Hooker and P.J. Locke will be unavailable for the Cowboys’ Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil, while their status for Houston has not been established.
DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel are currently playing at cornerback. The Cowboys rank 17th in pass defense entering Week 3, giving up 218 yards per game. Caleb Downs has made an impact, though the report said the group still has work to do.
Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud has taken the Texans to the playoffs. Houston reached the postseason last year and was eliminated by the New England Patriots. The report also raised the possibility of Dallas pursuing Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr., but said no trade had been completed. No additional Week 4 injury information was provided.
