The Dallas Cowboys have officially cut their roster from 91 players down to the mandated 53 in preparation for the 2026 NFL season. This decision comes as the team gears up for their season opener in East Rutherford, while also working to finalize their practice squad.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer described this year's roster cuts as particularly difficult due to the team's overall depth and talent. The Cowboys' initial lineup features three quarterbacks, three running backs, six wide receivers, and a range of players filling defensive and special teams roles.
The roster includes Dak Prescott, Joe Milton, and Sam Howell at quarterback; Javonte Williams, Malik Davis, and Hunter Luepke at running back; and CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and four others as wide receivers. The team also has three tight ends, nine offensive linemen, five defensive tackles, and six outside linebackers, among other positions.
Several players have been placed on the injured reserve or the physically unable to perform list, including linebacker Marist Liufau and cornerback Devin Moore. Additional roster adjustments are expected as the Cowboys finalize their preparations for the season ahead.
