The Dallas Cowboys have brought back quarterback Joe Milton III to their practice squad after he was initially released to make room for running back Emari Demercado. Milton went unclaimed during the waiver process but chose to return to the Cowboys despite interest from other teams for their practice squads.

Dak Prescott, the team's starting quarterback, expressed his enthusiasm about Milton's return, noting the positive influence he has on both the quarterback room and the team. Prescott highlighted Milton's growth over the offseason and the importance of supporting him as he adjusts to losing the QB2 position he held during the 2025 season.

Milton, a sixth-round pick by the New England Patriots in 2024, was traded to the Cowboys before the 2025 season. His preseason statistics reflected significant improvement, completing 29 of 43 passes for 378 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

This performance marked a notable increase in consistency compared to his previous season, where he played in four games with a completion rate of 62.5% and threw for one touchdown alongside two interceptions.

With his return to the Cowboys, Milton aims to build on his preseason success and utilize the competitive environment to further develop as a quarterback. Prescott's leadership will be essential as Milton enters his third season with the team, looking to make the most of his opportunity on the practice squad.
