P.J. Locke sustained a foot injury during Washington’s opening possession in Dallas’ home opener against the Commanders, leaving the Cowboys safety’s second game with the team early. A FOX replay showed Locke moving toward a tackle before he appeared to limp, with the injury occurring before contact with another player.
Training staff assisted Locke off the field, and reports cited by Sports Illustrated said he later reached the locker room under his own power. Malik Hooker was already unavailable for the game after being ruled out with a forearm injury.
Dallas added Locke during the offseason on a one-year contract worth $4 million. He spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Denver Broncos. In the Cowboys’ season-opening defeat by the New York Giants, Locke made two tackles. Sports Illustrated described the injury report as breaking news that could receive additional updates.
