Texas defensive lineman Hero Kanu is among the semifinalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, according to a Sept. 23 announcement from the National Football Foundation. Burnt Orange Nation reported the selection.

The award goes to a scholarship athlete whose credentials include academic achievement, performance in competition and leadership. No further information about the reasoning behind Kanu's selection was provided by the source.

Texas has placed a player among the award's finalists during each of the last two seasons. Linebacker Trey Moore was a finalist in 2025, after center Jake Majors reached that stage in 2024.

The program has two Campbell Trophy winners. Center Dallas Griffin received the award in 2007, and defensive end Sam Acho won it in 2010.
