The Houston Texans are facing difficulties as they prepare for the 2026 NFL season after wide receiver Jayden Higgins was placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL.

Higgins was anticipated to be a key player as the team's No. 2 receiver, and his injury has led the Texans to seek additional support at the position, particularly as other receivers, Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell, are also injured.

In light of this situation, the Texans are reportedly looking into free agency to find veteran wide receivers, specifically Josh Reynolds and Zay Jones. Reynolds, who previously played for the Detroit Lions, had a productive 2023 season with 40 catches for 608 yards and five touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Zay Jones, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars, recorded 82 receptions for 823 yards and five touchdowns during the 2022 season.

The Texans are considering these players to strengthen their receiving options. The team is conducting workouts for free agent receivers, and both Reynolds and Jones are among those being evaluated as the Texans address their roster challenges. With Higgins unable to play this season, the Texans may depend significantly on Xavier Hutchinson, Noel, and Dell to support star receiver Nico Collins.

The team's interest in Reynolds and Jones indicates a desire for experienced players to enhance their offense, though further details on potential signings remain unclear.
