Jake Hummel’s groin injury has resulted in a Texans roster change, with the linebacker placed on injured reserve Saturday. He sustained the injury during Houston’s Week 1 loss to the Bills and has not practiced since then.
The designation removes Hummel from availability for a minimum of four games. After that period, he can be considered for a return to Houston’s active roster, according to the terms of the move.
Jake Hansen is expected to remain in the starting linebacker group while Hummel is sidelined. Azeez Al-Shaair and Aiden Fisher are also expected to start at linebacker. CBS Sports reported the roster transaction, citing Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
