Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins was not present during the portion of Wednesday’s practice open to reporters, extending his absence to three straight sessions. Collins suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain before Houston’s Week 2 game against Cincinnati and did not play in that matchup.
The Texans are 0-2 and are preparing to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3. If Collins remains unavailable, Xavier Hutchinson, Kayshon Boutte and Jaylin Noel would be expected to take on larger roles. The three combined for seven receptions against Cincinnati, and no Houston wide receiver had more than three catches or 40 yards in that game.
Tight end Dalton Schultz led the team with 12 receptions for 140 yards.
The media-access portion of practice also did not include Schultz, offensive linemen Trent Brown and Ed Ingram, or edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney. No further details were provided about those players’ statuses. Collins’ return for Week 3 has not been determined, and he could instead come back for Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys, according to SI.com.
