Texans’ plans run from Wednesday injury to uncertain Colts status

Houston will face Cincinnati without Nico Collins while assessing when the receiver can return.

Nico Collins has been ruled out of Houston’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals with a Grade 1 hamstring injury sustained during Wednesday’s practice. The Texans receiver missed the final two practices of the week before being listed as out.

Collins’ status for Houston’s Week 3 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts remains undecided and under evaluation, according to a report from Aaron Wilson. No further details about his return were provided.

Houston will spread Collins’ workload among several players, including Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel. Jayden Higgins is already unavailable because of a season-ending ACL injury. C.J.

Stroud connected with 11 players in the season opener, when Collins recorded seven receptions, 75 receiving yards and a touchdown in a 36-31 loss to Buffalo. Collins has been among the Texans’ most productive offensive players over the past three seasons as Houston seeks its first win of the season.
