Cole Hutson can play for the Texas Longhorns this season under a temporary injunction issued by Judge Maria Cantu Hexel of Austin's 53rd District Court, according to sports.yahoo.com, which cited Chip Brown of Horns247.
Hutson had been declared ineligible before Texas faced Ohio State in its Week 2 game. On Sept. 7, coach Steve Sarkisian said the lineman's situation also involved a separate NCAA matter that was still being handled. The order came shortly before Texas' SEC opener at Tennessee in Knoxville on Saturday, so it remains unclear whether Hutson will be available.
Sarkisian was scheduled to speak with local media on Thursday and could offer an update.
Texas has received consistent production from both guard spots. Oregon State transfer Dylan Sikorski is starting at left guard, although fall-camp expectations had pointed to Western Kentucky transfer Laurence Seymore winning that job. During camp, quarterback Arch Manning said Hutson's return to the team surprised him and that he welcomed it.
Offensive guard Brandon Baker said Hutson had been a positive presence in the locker room, provided leadership and performed well in camp.
