COLUMBIA, Mo. — Jamal Roberts ran for 222 yards and two touchdowns on 34 carries, and the Missouri Tigers defeated the visiting Texas A&M Aggies 27-6 Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Missouri improved to 5-1, while Texas A&M moved to 3-3.

Roberts scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter and added a 54-yard touchdown run in the fourth. Blake Craig kicked after both touchdowns. Missouri finished with 27 points, while Texas A&M scored six.

How it unfolded

Texas A&M opened the scoring in the first quarter when David Olano made a 53-yard field goal for a 3-0 Aggies lead. Missouri answered in the second quarter with Cayden Lee’s 32-yard touchdown reception from Austin Simmons. Craig’s kick put the Tigers ahead 7-3.

Craig then made a 50-yard field goal in the second quarter, extending Missouri’s lead to 10-3 at halftime. The Tigers added 10 points in the third quarter: Craig made a 51-yard field goal, and Roberts followed with his 2-yard touchdown run to make it 20-3.

Olano made a 27-yard field goal for Texas A&M in the fourth quarter, cutting the margin to 20-6. Roberts’ 54-yard touchdown run and Craig’s kick completed the scoring at 27-6.

By the numbers

Simmons completed 14 of 28 passes for 147 yards, one touchdown and one interception for Missouri. Lee had seven receptions for 94 yards and one touchdown.

For Texas A&M, Marcel Reed completed 19 of 39 passes for 187 yards and had two interceptions. KJ Edwards carried six times for 20 yards, and TK Norman had three receptions for 55 yards.

Missouri’s quarter-by-quarter scoring was 0, 10, 10 and 7. Texas A&M’s was 3, 0, 0 and 3. Attendance at Memorial Stadium was 63,609.
