Tate Sandell’s 47-yard field goal on the final scoring play gave the Oklahoma Sooners a 27-24 victory over the Texas Longhorns on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Oklahoma was the home team. Attendance was 92,100.
The kick completed a 17-point fourth quarter for Oklahoma, which overcame a 24-17 deficit. Texas scored seven points in the fourth quarter, but Oklahoma’s final field goal produced the game’s last points and the 27-24 final score.
How the score unfolded
Texas led 7-0 after the first quarter, while Oklahoma was scoreless. Cam Coleman opened the scoring with a 41-yard touchdown pass from Arch Manning, followed by Gianni Spetic’s kick.
Oklahoma tied the game in the second quarter when Dakoda Fields returned a blocked punt 0 yards for a touchdown, with Sandell making the kick. Texas moved back ahead on Manning’s 34-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Wingo and then extended its lead with Spetic’s 23-yard field goal. Texas led 17-7 at halftime; the second-quarter scoring was Texas 10, Oklahoma 7.
Sandell’s 53-yard field goal was the only third-quarter scoring play, cutting Texas’ lead to 17-10. Oklahoma then tied the game at 17-17 in the fourth quarter on Lloyd Avant’s 2-yard touchdown run and took a 24-17 lead when Peyton Bowen returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown.
Texas answered with Manning’s 15-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Bishop Jr., followed by Spetic’s kick, before Sandell’s winning field goal.
