Brandon Nimmo was the catalyst for the Texas Rangers’ offensive output, delivering a standout performance that helped secure an 8-5 victory over the Oakland Athletics. The game, played on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, saw Nimmo go deep into the box score with four hits and five runs batted in.

His contributions were spread across multiple innings, providing the Rangers with crucial momentum as they built their lead against the visiting A’s.

Early Inning Action

The Rangers took an early 1-0 advantage in the first inning when Nimmo doubled to left field, allowing Seager to cross home plate. Oakland responded in the third inning. Butler singled to center, scoring Gelof to tie the game at 1-1. However, the Rangers immediately reclaimed the lead later in the same frame. Nimmo singled to right, bringing Seager home for a 2-1 advantage.

Middle Innings Expand Lead

Texas extended its grip on the game in the fifth inning. Nimmo’s second single of the day to right field drove in Pederson and Seager, pushing the score to 4-1. The rally continued as Langford scored on a groundout by Duran, making it 5-1 before the A’s could answer.

Oakland managed to put two runs on the board in the sixth inning. O’Hoppe hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Carter, and Seager followed with another sacrifice fly to score Díaz, narrowing the gap to 6-2. Nimmo added insurance by singling to right, scoring Langford for a 7-2 count.

Late Game Pitching and Final Score

The Athletics chipped away in the seventh inning when Stefanic singled to right, scoring Gelof, making it 8-3. Butler hit a sacrifice fly to center in the eighth, scoring Cortes, bringing the score to 8-4. The final scoring came in the ninth inning when McNeil homered to right-center field, adding two more runs for Texas and sealing the 8-5 win.

MacKenzie Gore earned the win for the Rangers, pitching 5.1 innings while allowing one run on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Chase Silseth recorded a hold, and Jacob Latz secured the save with two scoreless frames. For Oakland, Brady Basso took the loss after giving up two runs in 2.1 innings. The Rangers improved to 69-70, while the Athletics fell to 53-86.
