Eovaldi’s Power Display
Nathan Eovaldi anchored the Texas Rangers’ victory with a sharp performance on the mound, earning the win in Friday’s contest against the Detroit Tigers. The Rangers secured a 10-4 final score at Globe Life Field, with Eovaldi recording nine strikeouts while allowing only three earned runs over five innings. He surrendered six hits and walked one batter before exiting the game.
His record improved to 9-7 with the decision.
Early Tigers Lead
Detroit opened the scoring in the second inning. Díaz homered to left center, a 414-foot shot that gave the Tigers a 1-0 advantage. The Rangers responded quickly in the same frame.
Jung walked, bringing Osuna home to tie the game. Duran followed with a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Lopez to put Texas ahead 3-0. Jung doubled to left in the fourth inning, driving in Lopez for a 4-0 Rangers lead.
Duran singled to center, adding another run to make it 5-0.
Tigers Strike Back
Detroit managed to get on the board in the fifth inning when Keith homered to right center, a 405-foot blast that made the score 5-1. The Tigers added another run later in the frame as Lee homered to left center, a 383-foot shot that scored McKinstry, bringing the score to 5-3. Smith then homered to right, a 406-foot home run, making it 5-4.
The Tigers’ pitching effort included Framber Valdez, who took the loss, falling to 4-6. Valdez pitched five innings, giving up five earned runs on nine hits. Relief pitchers Beau Brieske, Drew Sommers, Kenley Jansen, and Kyle Finnegan combined for the remaining innings, with Sommers allowing three earned runs in his brief appearance.
Rangers Pull Away
The Rangers extended their lead significantly in the seventh inning. Osuna singled to left, scoring Carter to make it 6-4. Lopez singled to right, bringing Osuna home for a 7-4 lead.
Smith reached on an infield single to shortstop, scoring Osuna again to push the margin to 8-4. In the eighth inning, Malgeri singled to center, scoring McKinstry for a 9-4 score. Carter then homered to center, a 422-foot shot, to finalize the scoring at 10-4.
The Rangers’ bullpen held the line, with Tyler Alexander, Peyton Gray, and Robby Ahlstrom each earning a hold. Cole Winn and Gavin Collyer pitched the final innings, combining to allow one earned run on three hits. The Rangers improved to 45-43, while the Tigers fell to 38-50.
