The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Texas Rangers 9-1 on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Chase Field in Phoenix. The home team improved their record to 79-69, while the visiting Rangers fell to 72-76. Scoring Breakdown

The Rangers managed a single run in the fifth inning when Jansen scored on a double by Pederson to right field. However, the Diamondbacks responded immediately and never trailed again. In the bottom of the fifth, Arizona scored three runs. Vargas hit a ground rule double that drove in Lawlar, followed by Marte’s double to left field which scored both Vargas and Waldschmidt. Moreno then singled to center, allowing Marte to cross the plate.

The offensive surge continued into the sixth inning. Marte doubled to right field to score Waldschmidt, and Moreno singled to center to drive in Marte. The margin widened significantly when Carroll homered to left center field, a 382-foot shot that scored Moreno.

Arenado finished the scoring with a 371-foot home run to left field. These two home runs accounted for all the extra-base hits in the game.

Pitching Performance

For the Diamondbacks, Merrill Kelly took the loss despite allowing only one earned run in 4.1 innings. Kevin Ginkel secured the win, pitching 0.2 scoreless innings. Justin Martinez recorded the save, striking out three batters in one inning without allowing a hit or walk. Taylor Clarke and Dennis Santana also pitched scoreless innings for the home staff.

The Rangers’ starting pitcher, MacKenzie Gore, struggled, allowing five hits and four earned runs over four innings while walking three batters. He took the loss, dropping his record to 8-11. Relief pitchers Jakob Junis, Chase Silseth, Adam Macko, and Jordan Montgomery combined to allow five more earned runs.

Jordan Montgomery pitched two scoreless innings, striking out one batter without issuing a walk. The Diamondbacks’ bullpen effectively shut down the Rangers’ offense after the initial damage was done in the fifth and sixth innings.
