Austin Riley powered the Atlanta Braves to an 8-5 victory over the Texas Rangers on Sunday, driving in five runs with two home runs and a key single. Brian McCann matched that offensive output with five hits, including two home runs, providing the bulk of the Braves' firepower at Truist Park.
Riley’s first blast came in the second inning, a 416-foot shot to left field that gave Atlanta a 2-0 lead. He added another in the fourth, a 413-foot home run to center field that extended the margin to 4-0. In the seventh inning, Riley singled to center, bringing in two more runs before being thrown out at home plate on a subsequent play.
His contributions were critical in a game where the Braves ultimately pulled away in the later innings.
McCann was equally effective, homering in the third and eighth innings. His third-inning shot traveled 395 feet to right-center, making the score 3-0. His eighth-inning home run, a 392-foot shot to center field, capped the Braves' scoring in that frame. McCann also doubled in the fifth inning, contributing to a three-run rally that narrowed the gap after the Rangers had begun to threaten.
