Angels hold Rangers to zero runs

The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Texas Rangers 3-0 on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The victory extended the Angels' winning streak to a record of 52-78, while the Rangers fell to 64-66. Attendance for the contest was 35,836.

The Angels' offense remained efficient, scoring three runs without the aid of a home run, as the team managed to keep the Rangers' scoring column empty for the entire game.

Scoring sequence

The Angels took an early lead in the first inning. Justin Neto scored on a single to center by Mike Trout, putting the visitors ahead 1-0. The Angels added a second run in the sixth inning when Trout crossed the plate on a double to center by Ballesteros.

The final run of the game arrived in the eighth inning, as Neto scored on a single to right by Grissom, sealing the 3-0 margin. The Rangers failed to record any runs throughout the nine-inning framework, resulting in a shutout performance for the visiting pitching staff.

Pitching performance

Ryan Johnson earned the win, pitching seven innings while allowing only one hit. He recorded three strikeouts and issued two walks while giving up no earned runs. His record improved to 3-7.

Michael Fulmer pitched one inning without allowing a hit or an earned run, striking out none and walking one, while recording his first save of the season. Ryan Watson closed the game with one inning of work, allowing no hits, no earned runs, and one strikeout, while issuing no walks. His save count rose to two.

Rangers pitching struggles

Cody Bradford took the loss, pitching 5.1 innings while allowing seven hits and two earned runs. He struck out three batters and issued no walks. His record dropped to 0-2.

Cole Winn pitched 1.2 innings without allowing a hit or an earned run, striking out three batters. Robby Ahlstrom pitched one inning, allowing two hits and one earned run, while striking out one and walking one. Peyton Gray pitched the final inning, allowing one hit and no earned runs, while striking out one batter and issuing no walks.

The Rangers' bullpen failed to prevent the Angels from maintaining their lead, resulting in a complete loss for the home side.
