UT Dallas turned a scoreless road match into its first Lone Star Conference men’s soccer victory Wednesday, scoring twice late in a 2–0 win at Lubbock Christian.

The Richardson-based Comets broke through in the 78th minute and added their second goal two minutes later at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex on Oct. 7, according to the university’s recap.

UTD improved to 7–1–4 overall and 1–0–3 in conference play. After three league draws, the Comets converted their unbeaten conference start into a win.

The result came with a substantial advantage in chances. UT Dallas finished with 25 shots to Lubbock Christian’s 12 and put 14 on target, compared with five for the hosts. The Comets also led 8–6 in corner kicks. Lubbock Christian fell to 5–6–1 overall and 2–3 in the LSC.

UT Dallas returns home Saturday, Oct. 10, to host No. 2 Midwestern State at 7 p.m. CDT. The Richardson matchup gives the Comets a chance to build on Wednesday’s breakthrough against a highly ranked conference opponent.
