The two candidates for Texas House District 102 will answer voters' questions Thursday, Oct. 8, at a forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Richardson.
The forum begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Richardson ISD Administration Building, 400 S. Greenville Ave. It is free and open to the public, and no registration is required.
The candidates
The candidates on the Nov. 3 ballot, listed in ballot order, are Republican Bonnie Abadie and Democrat Ana-María Rodríguez Ramos, who has represented the district since 2019. The League says both have confirmed they will attend, and it points voters to VOTE411.org, its online voter guide, for more on the candidates.
District 102 covers parts of Richardson, Dallas and Garland, as well as the town of Addison.
How the forum works
A moderator will read audience questions to the candidates, and both candidates will answer every question. Questions can be turned in during the forum or emailed ahead of time to forums@lwvrichardson.org, and the League says emailed questions get the same consideration as those asked in the room. All questions are screened for relevance, repetition and inappropriate content under the League of Women Voters of Texas guide to candidate forums.
The League plans to post an unedited recording of the forum on its YouTube channel afterward. Organizers said parking and accessibility should not be a problem.
No forum for District 112
The League will not hold a forum for Texas House District 112, which also includes part of Richardson. According to the League, its forums require consent from both candidates, and the Republican candidate, Angie Chen Button, declined to participate. Her Democratic opponent is Zach Herbert.
