Richardson ISD opens enrollment for 2027-2028 school year

Richardson ISD has opened enrollment for students new to the district for the 2027-2028 school year. Applications are now available for families seeking to enroll their children in the district for the first time, new residents living within district boundaries, and out-of-district students.

The district stated that enrollment opens on November 1 for these new student groups. This date also marks the opening of applications for magnet and choice programs, as well as intradistrict and interdistrict transfers. The district noted that it offers educators, fine arts programs, and athletics from Pre-K through high school graduation.

Enrollment for all returning RISD students will open later, on February 23, 2027. The district invited families to explore its schools and opportunities to secure a spot for the upcoming academic year.

Out-of-district enrollment applications are subject to specific review criteria. The district stated that these applications are reviewed based on academic performance, attendance, disciplinary records, and space availability at the requested school. Availability considerations include building capacity, program and campus enrollment, growth projections, grade-level enrollment, and staff allocations. The district noted that priority is given to existing RISD families who live within district boundaries.

Families interested in enrolling are directed to explore the district's opportunities and submit their applications. The district emphasized its commitment to helping students grow, lead, create, and thrive through tailored opportunities and support.
