State Rep. Angie Chen Button, a Republican whose district office is on International Parkway in Richardson, was trailing her Democratic challenger early Wednesday, according to Dallas County's election night results.
With 56 of the district's 75 precincts counted, Zach Herbert had 43,251 votes (53.56%) and Button had 37,499 (46.44%), a gap of 5,752 votes. The figures come from the county's results site as last updated about 2:24 a.m. and are unofficial.
House District 112 takes in parts of Richardson and neighboring Garland, a Census Bureau district lookup shows, and the Texas House lists Dallas as its only county.
District 102
Richardson City Hall on West Arapaho Road and the surrounding neighborhoods are in House District 102. There, state Rep. Ana-Maria Rodriguez Ramos, a Democrat, had 31,468 votes (68.86%) to 14,228 (31.14%) for Republican Bonnie Abadie, with 43 of 50 precincts reporting at the same update.
Collin County side
Richardson's Collin County side includes territory in House District 33, which covers part of Collin County and all of Rockwall County. Collin County's complete but unofficial count shows that Democrat Orlando Lopez had 18,361 votes (58.82%) in the district's Collin portion and Republican Rep. Katrina Pierson had 12,852 (41.18%).
Those numbers do not include Rockwall County, whose results were not reviewed for this story, so they are not a districtwide total.
