Clement changes the finish

The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Houston Astros 5-4 in 10 innings on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas. Clement delivered the deciding swing, homering to left 391 feet in the 10th inning with Urías aboard to put Toronto ahead 5-3. The announced attendance was 27,751.

Houston answered in the bottom of the 10th when Alvarez singled to right and Peña scored, cutting the Blue Jays’ lead to one. Alvarez was out stretching at second, and Houston’s challenge of the call was upheld.

Astros strike first

Pitching lines

Jameson Taillon allowed three earned runs on six hits and two walks in four innings for Toronto, striking out four. Spencer Miles pitched two innings with two hits allowed, no earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts. Mason Fluharty worked one inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts.

Tyler Rogers pitched one inning for Toronto, allowing one hit and no earned runs. Louis Varland earned the win, improving to 4-4, after one inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout. Chase Lee recorded his first save after one inning with one hit allowed, no earned runs and no walks.

Records after the result

Hunter Brown allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks in six innings for Houston, striking out eight. Steven Okert, Bryan Abreu and Josh Hader each pitched one inning without allowing a hit or earned run. Bennett Sousa took the loss, falling to 0-1, after allowing two hits and one earned run in one inning.

The Astros are 59-57 after the loss. The Blue Jays are 54-61 after the win.
