HEXA Coworking & Event Center in Richardson has activated four commercial Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations on its campus. The infrastructure became operational on May 5, 2026, at the facility located at 2100 N. Greenville Ave. within the Richardson Innovation District.
The four charging units are PrimeCom PCT-CO-80A-S-J1-4G models, delivering 277 volts at 80 amps, which equates to approximately 22 kilowatts per station. They utilize SAE J1772 connectors, a standard compatible with most electric vehicles. Tesla owners can use their own adapters to charge at the site. Management oversees the stations through the ChargeLab application, which allows users to manage sessions remotely.
Station 3 is equipped with an integrated autotransformer to provide approximately 256 volts, designed to support a wider variety of consumer electric vehicles, including models from Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, and Ford, preventing performance issues at the standard voltage.
Two parking spaces designated for individuals with disabilities are situated between Stations 2 and 3, sharing a striped access aisle and curb ramp to allow access to any of the four chargers.
Paul Johnson, chief executive officer of HEXA, stated that the expansion addresses requests from the facility's 89 member companies and the broader community. He noted that the charging stations complement the building's existing solar power system, allowing energy from the rooftop panels to power the vehicles when the sun is shining. The stations are open to members, event attendees, and the general public.
Pricing is structured to differentiate between users. Members pay $0.19 per kilowatt-hour by registering their company domain or email address with the facility. Non-members and guests pay a default rate of $0.29 per kilowatt-hour.
