Dallas County has initiated the application process for its tenth annual expunction expo, designed to assist residents in clearing certain criminal records from their history. The event aims to help individuals who meet specific legal criteria to have their cases expunged, though eligibility is restricted to those without final convictions, probation, or community supervision.
Individuals who received a deferred disposition for a misdemeanor or a Class C misdemeanor are also ineligible for standard expunction.
The application window opens on Wednesday, July 8, at 8 a.m. and closes on Thursday, July 9, at 5 p.m. Residents can submit their applications exclusively through the county website at dallascounty.org/expunction. County officials advise applicants to gather necessary documentation before starting the process, including a valid identification card, date of birth, social security number, and complete case history.
For those without access to a computer or internet service, Dallas County has established physical assistance stations throughout the area. These support centers are located at the Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church on Hampton Road, the Friendship West Formula Human Services offices on Kiest Boulevard, and the Tori Community Offices on Westmoreland Road, where representatives from the T.D. Jakes Foundation will be present to help.
A specific subset of applicants faces additional hurdles. Individuals who had two concurrent cases and were acquitted in one but convicted in the other do not qualify for a standard expunction. Instead, these applicants must apply to enter the expunction pool, a separate process for those with mixed outcomes in linked cases.
