King Abdullah II of Jordan was observed dining at Khashoka, a Middle Eastern eatery in Richardson, on Sunday. The monarch traveled to North Texas to support his country’s national soccer team during its inaugural appearance at the FIFA World Cup. Abdullah II has held the throne since February 1999.

The Jordanian squad also stopped by the establishment after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Argentina, led by Lionel Messi. Muhammad Albakri, the owner of Khashoka, had previously expressed hope that the team would visit during their stay in Texas. He noted that the restaurant, which opened in North Texas in 2025, imports the vast majority of its ingredients and decor from Jordan.

Albakri joked that the players would eventually crave traditional dishes like falafel and mansaf.
