Sazon De Loa, a Mexican restaurant on Renner Road in Plano, is actively recruiting employees following an unexpected surge in patronage. The influx of customers began after a video posted by the owner’s 15-year-old daughter, Leslie De Loa, gained significant traction online.
The establishment, which serves authentic cuisine prepared by chef and owner Rafael De Loa, had been struggling with low attendance prior to the digital campaign.
Leslie De Loa recorded a message asking for support for her family’s business, noting that they were not receiving enough visitors despite her father’s efforts. The video was subsequently shared by a social media personality known as Bucky Wild Child, who has more than 110,000 followers. The influencer had visited the Renner Road location earlier in the week and posted about the experience.
The post led to a dramatic increase in foot traffic. On a recent Thursday lunch service, the restaurant was filled with diners. Patrons traveled from various distances to support the business. Some visitors, such as Jhazmin Martinez, were motivated by a desire for a date night and the viral appeal. Others, like Jesus Martinez, praised the quality of the food.
Many customers expressed surprise at the size of the crowd upon arrival. Diego Osorio noted that he expected a modest turnout but found the venue extremely busy, anticipating a wait of over an hour. Despite the long lines, attendees like C.J.
Nelson indicated they were willing to wait for the meal. Leslie De Loa expressed gratitude for the community’s willingness to visit and try the food.
The rapid change in fortune has been emotional for Rafael De Loa. He explained that the previous lack of business made it difficult to retain staff, as potential employees were not interested in working for tips. He described the current situation as a miracle for the business, which has operated for nearly two years.
