Richardson Magnet Schools Earn National Certification

Richardson ISD has announced that its Math Science and Technology Magnet (MST) school and Richardson West Junior High Arts & Technology Magnet (RWJH) have earned national certifications. The Magnet Schools of America (MSA) awarded MST the title of Certified National Magnet School and RWJH the title of National Certified-Demonstration School.

These honors recognize exemplary magnet and theme-based schools across the United States. According to the district, these are the first magnet schools in Richardson ISD to achieve this certification. They join a group of only 40 Nationally Certified Schools and 37 Nationally Certified-Demonstration Schools announced nationwide in 2026.

The MSA certification process involves a rigorous evaluation based on five main pillars that define high-quality magnet programs. These pillars include diversity, innovative curriculum and professional development, academic excellence, high-quality instructional systems, and family and community partnerships. The district states that the schools established strong Standards of Excellence through defined evidence-based practices, reflection, and strategic action.

RWJH not only met the Standards of Excellence but exceeded the criteria for its designation. As a Certified Demonstration School, it will serve as a learning model for magnet programs across the country to replicate. The certification is awarded to schools that provide high-quality, innovative learning experiences supporting student achievement and opportunity available through school choice.

The district highlighted the continued commitment of both MST and RWJH to exceptional student achievement and unique learning opportunities. Richardson ISD congratulated students, staff, and school communities on this accomplishment.
