The Dallas Cowboys are turning their defensive communication duties over to rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham for their Week 2 meeting with the Washington Commanders, according to sportingnews.com. Coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed Barham will wear the green dot Sunday.

The assignment follows Dallas’ 28-point loss to the New York Giants in Week 1, when the Cowboys also struggled to contain the Giants’ offense. Defensive coordinator Christian Parker is making the change as Dallas prepares to face Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Barham was selected in the third round out of Michigan. His handling of the defensive responsibilities will be one of the developments surrounding the NFC East matchup, along with Dallas’ offensive performance against Washington’s defense. Both teams enter the game after losing to division opponents in Week 1.
