On September 4, TCU reinstated media credentials for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram after a suspension lasting almost two weeks. This action came after the newspaper reported on a locker room incident that involved Jacob Fields and Dozie Noble Ezukanma, who suffered a brain bleed, leading to Fields being charged with aggravated assault.

Despite the revocation of credentials, the Star-Telegram continued to cover the incident. TCU Athletics released a statement reaffirming its commitment to collaboration with the newspaper, recognizing its importance as an independent news source in the community.

The Horned Frogs started their season with a loss against North Carolina, finishing 15-10 in a game played in Ireland. They are set to compete against Grambling State on September 12. The suspension of the Star-Telegram's credentials was reportedly connected to threats made against Ezukanma, although the newspaper clarified that it did not reveal his identity following the incident.

With the credentials restored, the Star-Telegram will regain full access to media areas at TCU events.
