Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to miss the Bears’ game with Louisiana Tech, while his recovery could put him in position to face Colorado on Sept. 26. The matchup will be Baylor’s Big 12 opener and is scheduled against the Buffaloes and coach Deion Sanders.
Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Lagway is progressing toward a return for the Colorado contest, though the report did not establish that he will play. ClutchPoints also reported that the timing of his comeback is still not settled beyond the indication that he is advancing toward that game.
Lagway injured his ankle during Baylor’s 17-16 season-opening defeat to Auburn. Sources previously told On3 Sports that the junior quarterback had a high-ankle sprain. Coach Dave Aranda had earlier characterized Lagway’s status as day-to-day.
Baylor then defeated Prairie View 44-3 without Lagway. The Bears are scheduled to play Louisiana Tech before beginning conference competition against Colorado.
